Step into the world of Adventure Walking and Snowshoeing at The Boston Outdoor Expo!
Have you ever been out for a walk, felt the refreshing feeling of your leg muscles being worked, and wished you could do something as healthy for your arms? Adventure walking with poles is an activity that offers a way to boost the health benefits and overall quality of your walking—whether it's your daily stroll or an intense weekend hike.
So, what exactly is this walking with poles? What does it look like, and how does one start? Adventure walking aims to achieve a more natural walking rhythm rather than an awkward one. To do this, the poles are medium height and lightweight, making it easy to swing them in an alternating pattern to what your feet are doing. To keep your balance on various surfaces, Nordic walking poles come with various tips: rubberized blocky tips for pavement gripping, metal ferrules for rocky or slippery trails, or large compressible tips for shock absorption.
Visit the Adventure Walking area of the expo and test a pair of poles on our short track and again on the elements we prepared to simulate a trail walk. Adventure walking with poles will provide the stability to navigate anything on the trail or in the urban environment—curbs, no problem; uneven terrain, no problem; roots and rocks, no problem. You will also find demo snowshoes to test out on our simulater snow track.
Speak with our Adventure Walking experts and Certified Personal Trainers to learn the health benefits of walking with poles.
At the booth, you will find:
• Adventure Walking Poles to demo
• Test track to try walking with the poles
• Balance elements to test with the poles
• Registration to take part in a group walk around the convention Center with our certified personal trainer.
• Registration for a kid's scavenger hunt
• Demo Snowshoes on our simulated snow
Even if you don't have any complaints about good old-fashioned, pole-free walking, you'll be surprised by how much walking with poles can add to an excursion. Beyond the better workout—adventure walking engages the entire body—poles can make steep hills and descents more manageable, help you find a natural pace and rhythm, and increase balance and stability on unstable terrain.
We look forward to educating you on the benefits and fun of Adventure Walking and Snowshoeing.

The Wings for Life World Run booth will be offering 5–10-minute massages for anyone who signs up for the virtual run taking place on Sunday May 5th, 2024. The Wings For Life World Run is a virtual race with everyone starting at the same time, worldwide – AND it raises money to help find a cure for spinal cord injury. The run is for everyone, regardless of your running experience. There’s no traditional finish line. Instead a virtual catcher car speeds up and eventually knocks you out of the race depending on your running pace. The best part, 100% of entry fees and donations directly support spinal cord research. Over the years, the Wings for Life World Run has seen an impressive turnout, with 1.3 million participants from 195 nationalities collectively raising over $47 million for spinal cord injury research. Stop by the booth to learn more about the race and to sign up for your massage! Physio sessions will be on a first come first serve basis.

Mark Sky, the world’s first human to journey from Canada to the summit of the highest mountain in the Americas—entirely by human power. His epic expedition kicked off on May 31, 2023, when he pedaled away from his home in Squamish, British Columbia. Fast forward nine months, and he reached Panama on two wheels, but not without a twist: he summited the highest peak in every country along the way.
Now, you might be thinking, “How does one cross from Panama to Colombia?” Well, spoiler alert: there are no roads! This notorious stretch is known as the “Darien Gap,” often described as one of the most treacherous places on Earth. Undeterred, Mark kayaked over 300 miles, battling fierce storms and turbulent seas, all while dodging thousands of illegal immigrants. And as if that wasn’t enough drama, he was involuntarily detained by the Colombian military. After a thrilling release, he resumed his journey through South America by bicycle, eventually conquering Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina (January 2025) — the highest mountain in the Americas at 6,962 meters (22,840 feet) — capping off nearly two years of adventure through 15 countries and over 15,000 miles of human-powered exploration.
Before this remarkable feat, Mark was a competitive athlete in the Adventure Racing World Series, representing one of the top 10 teams globally. His most recent race was the infamous ‘Eco Challenge: World’s Toughest Race’, in Fiji, hosted by Bear Grylls on Amazon Prime, where he and his team secured a commendable 13th place out of nearly 70 teams.
Mark’s passion for adventure sports has taken him to some wild places. From working as a bungee jump-master, climbing beautiful rock walls, jumping out of airplanes, paddling wild rivers and crafting multi-sport escapades in the mountains, he’s embraced the great outdoors all over the world. As someone who relishes calculated risks, Mark has faced numerous close calls and has sadly lost friends along the way.
Now, Mark is on a mission to share the tales of his thrilling life, infused with valuable lessons about living fully. His goal is to inspire you to define and design your own dream life and pursue your wildest dreams at all costs!
Join Mark for an unforgettable presentation, where you’ll be inspired by his adventures and reminded that life is short, precious, and full of potential.

Gina Bradley is the Founder and CEO of Paddle Diva, which was created in 2009 in East Hampton, NY.
It is based on the premise that Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a way to get in shape and have a great experience on the water while offering a special mind-body connection. Originally Paddle Diva identified women as a target market, and the brand quickly became well known in the Hamptons and beyond. She also marketed it to men and children, making the sport accessible and family oriented, thus furthering the brand’s reach.
Gina began her career as a marketing professional and brand creator for large advertising agencies in New York City. As a fitness instructor, a professional windsurfer, surfer, and PADI certified Scuba Instructor, Gina became motivated by her love for the water to found Paddle Diva from her home in East Hampton. Soon Paddle Diva became a highly sought after brand in The Hamptons, Montauk and Rincon, Puerto Rico, with a nationwide rollout and Licensing effort in the works for 2018. Gina has recently participated and has been an advisor in Gabby Reece and Laird Hamilton’s two day training called The XPT Experience in Montauk and Malibu and she is featured In Outside Magazine’s TV series on XPT. She also has been featured in Bravo’s “ Summer Share”, HGTV’s “Island Life’, and on Bethenny Frankel’s “Bethany and Frederic.” She often does media appearances, speaking engagements, and is a guest at conferences and conventions.
Chris Bertish is a professional speaker, big wave surfing Mavericks champion, stand up paddle board Guinness World Record holder, best-selling author, award-winning film director, philanthropist, conservationist, ocean pioneer and entrepreneur.
He was recently recognized as one of the Top 5 Motivational Speakers in South Africa and Top 10 in the World. Chris was selected as one of the Genius 100-Global Visionaries for the future, by the Einstein Institute, both for excellence in his disciplines and universal global positive influence, along with other fellow visionaries like, Deepak Chopra, Sir Ken Robinson and Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Sir Richard Branson and Dr. Silvia Earle.
His incredible Mavericks big wave story was developed into a globally inspiring and award-winning film, Ocean Driven, and then was launched into the #1 best-selling book-Stoked!
In 2017, Red Bull Adventure exclaimed Chris “redefined the concept of extreme adventure” when he became the first person ever to stand up paddle across any ocean. Defying all odds, he navigated 4660 mi (7500 km) solo, unsupported and unassisted for 93 days, across the Atlantic Ocean from Morocco, Africa to the Caribbean Island of Antigua. The Sup Crossing was a truly unparalleled global feat, while raising money and awareness for conservation and to help disadvantaged children in Africa, through the Lunchbox Fund and Operation Smile.
He has become renowned for his dynamic and inspiring keynote addresses delivered around the globe, which move audiences to tears and laughter, with a powerful narrative and audio-visual overload that keeps people on the edge of their seats from start to finish and leaves them inspired, impacted and moved.
Chris Bertish shifts boundaries and shatters perceptions of what’s possible, while using his voice, his stories and his adventures as a force for good and positive change. He is a Climate Neutral business, using his adventures and projects to support charities, both in the humanitarian, educational, sustainability and environmental realms, to bring about tangible positive change, while inspiring us to give back, lift others up, be better humans and discover our own greatest potential.
Chris is an Ambassador for Operation Smile, Sea Trees, Sea Shepherd and Conservation International and through his business and non-profit, The Chris Bertish Foundation, he annually plants multiple forests around the world, to be an example to others of the change we all wish to see in the world.
In early 2022 Chris and his team launched his new feature film documentary called “Last known Co-ordinates” globally, on his mind-altering, purpose driven, solo, unsupported, Trans-Atlantic Sup Crossing journey, which has already been selected for 5 x International Film Festivals and won multiple international awards.
In June / July 2022, Chris Wing Foiled, solo and unsupported, across the Pacific Ocean, from California to Hawaii, over 49 days and 2500 Nautical Miles, becoming the first person to wing foil across any ocean. A project powered by nature, for nature. All tied into the UN’s 17 global SDG’s, while raising money and creating awareness on Climate Change, Ocean Health issues and the action needed to get down to carbon net zero by 2030.
In 2023, Chris just launched his second Book “All in!” on his incredible solo Stand up Paddle journey. The new book has already graced the Best Sellers list in South Africa and Chris is currently doing a Roadshow across America, West to East, launching his new book and Speaking to and inspiring audiences across the USA.
In August 2023, Chris launched his new ALL IN!- Limited Edition Eco Series Book (only 10xbooks in the world), which is the most sustainable book ever printed. A book created as an example to the world of what’s possible.Everything Chris does is about leading by example and being the change we want to see in the world, each and every day.
As the founder of Seacoast Paddleboard Club (SPC), Chris Carragher lives by the motto, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
In 2013, Chris completed a solo paddle to the Isles of Shoals, an island chain six miles off the coast of New Hampshire. As a charity paddle, his solo expedition raised over $10,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire.
At the time, Chris viewed the paddle as a bucket list time that needed to be checked. However, this single paddle changed his life forever.
Immediately after the paddle, Carragher received dozens of calls and emails asking when he planned to host this paddle again. Through a series of “happy accidents,” Chris created the Seacoast Paddleboard Club in 2015 and has shared his love for water ever since.
Since its formation, SPC has raised more than $200,000 for local charities. The group hosts year-round events, including community paddles and beach cleanups, as well as its signature charity paddles, which include the Seacoast Paddle for the Pups, Conquer the Seacoast, and its Annual Halloween Costume paddle.
When he’s not managing the club, Chris enjoys hanging out with his wife Diane, and their dog Ellie, and surfing whenever and wherever he can find waves.

A latch-key kid, raised by a single mom, Jessie’s childhood environment was a pretty common one for the 80’s. As an only child until the age of 10, she spent a lot of time on her own, in the outdoors whenever she had the chance. Also sadly common, she is a survivor of infant and childhood abuse; quiet and shy, she preferred the company of trees and cats to people. Fire forges strong tools however, and like many other abuse survivors she was drawn toward opportunities to test her strength. With a dream of escaping to exotic places, she joined the Air Force. Instead, she found herself in Washington State a few months later, carrying a backpack almost as heavy as herself up and down mountains and learning to teach others how to survive in hostile situations.
After four years as an AF SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) Specialist, Jessie finally got to travel and work overseas while getting a BA in educational psychology. She’s also had a few outdoor adventures, usually while guiding others on recreational trips in Europe, sometimes while working as a wilderness therapy field guide in the states, and occasionally in the Colorado mountains that she now calls home.
In the last few years she’s been drawn into various media roles as a reality TV personality (History’s “ALONE: season 9” and National Geographic’s “Mygrations”) and online educator (MasterClass). She now owns and operates a school based in Colorado (OWLSSkills.com), which teaches the global survival and evasion techniques she learned and once taught in the military, to civilians with a focus on women and marginalized demographics. Protecting wild spaces by helping those with the desire learn to connect, explore, and feel safer in outdoor settings is her primary goal.
Conrad is a living legend, having spent his life pushing the limits of big mountain climbing and exploring places unknown. As one of America’s best alpinists with many first ascents across the world, he’s known for his visionary approach to mountaineering and his ability to withstand hardship.
He came to climbing by way of his family, learning a deep appreciation for the outdoors from his California childhood. He’d climbed Mount Rainier by the time he was 16. He met his first climbing mentor, the late iconic climber Mugs Stump, while studying at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and working in a mountaineering store. Conrad and the late Alex Lowe–his climbing partner and best friend–went on to become climbing’s rock stars in the 90’s, setting speed records in the Himalaya and Antarctica.
Conrad’s career has included several breakthrough moments that reached a global audience. In 2011 he completed the long-awaited first ascent of the Meru Shark’s Fin in India with partners Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk, which inspired the Sundance-winning documentary, Meru. Conrad has climbed Everest three times, including a 2012 trip with National Geographic to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first American ascent of the mountain. On his most famous Everest climb in 1999, he discovered the remains of George Mallory, one of the two British climbers who died attempting Everest in 1924, helping to shed more light on one of mountaineering’s most famous mysteries.
But for many years, one of his greatest passions has been down in the valley—specifically the Khumbu Valley of Nepal. In more than 25 years of expeditions to Nepal, Conrad and his wife, Jennifer Lowe-Anker, have developed deep relationships with the Sherpa people and founded the Khumbu Climbing Center in Phortse, Nepal, which provides a variety of safety training courses to high altitude workers.
While he’s hardly slowed down, the Bozeman, Montana-based father of three has made a priority of writing and speaking about the outdoor experiences that have shaped him, and is an active philanthropist and mentor that strives to make the outdoors an attainable place for all.
While being cast for Naked and Afraid, upon hearing my story the man said “Sara, you’re a joyful warrior”. It was the perfect name for the approach to life I’d found, and the state we can all find within ourselves of our deepest joy and strength.
Months later, as I stepped out of the jungles of Trinidad and Tobago after completing my first Naked and Afraid Challenge, I found another surprise. This time, one of my own making.
After over a decade of loving it, I quit my dream job. I swapped entertaining an audience with jokes and tricks for empowering a new community with tools and stories as a keynote speaker. I realized my time in the spotlight was all just a warm up and tool kit to help me empower others- you, in fact. Today I’m a speaker, coach, and getting my Masters Degree to be a Licensed Therapist with a specialization in eco and adventure therapy.
Whether you’re a C-Suite exec or a new parent just tying to hold it together, I know your modern problems don’t need more tech updates and complex rabbit holes of information- they need simple primitive solutions that speak to the human spirit and experience. wW are all fighting invisible battles, and it’s an honor to help you grow through your modern problems through the simple primitive tools I’ve learned and tested in my own journey.
Today you can find me leading retreats and events that teach Wild Wellness and the Joyful Resilience Framework, giving inspirational and actionable keynote speeches, and sharing stories and insights on my YouTube channel.
Life is a trampoline- the further you go down, the further you can fly.
An early adopter of the tenkara method of fly fishing. Bill has made it his mission to share his love and knowledge of tenkara across New England.
Tenkara is a fixed line method of fly fishing that originated in Japan, hundreds of years ago. It developed as the most efficient way to fish for trout in mountain streams. Today’s tenkara rods are ultra-light, telescopic, and ideal for taking on mountain hikes.
Bill founded Red Brook Tenkara and sells his own line of tenkara gear online and at outdoor/fishing shows throughout New England. He also teaches the tenkara method to small groups throughout the year.
Three years ago, Bill put together a group of volunteers and started the White Mountains Tenkara Camp Out. This has turned into an epic event that sells out annually. It takes place at a campground in Gorham, NH and has attendees from all over the United States and Canada. The weekend event includes camping, hiking, tenkara instruction and much more.
